Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa's Highest Mountain. Mount Kilimanjaro is a perfectly shaped volcano isl inactive rising sheer from the plains. At 5895m it is the highest in Africa and is snow capped. Mount Kilimanjaro can be climbed any time of the year but there is usually a lot more rain during April, May and November. At the lower levels, you will pass through cultivated farmlands rising through tropical rain forest onto alpine meadows and finally the barren landscape leading to the snow and ice capped summit. The lower levels also offer the chance to view a wide variety of animals, birds and flora in their natural habitat. MT. KILIMANJARO CLIMB-UMBWE ROUTE - 8 DAYS 7 NIGHTS
6 DAYS ON THE MOUNTAIN KILIMANJARO- Trekking on Mount Kilimanjaro
DAY ONE: NAIROBI - ARUSHA
Travel to Arusha from Nairobi. Dinner and overnight in a Hotel in Arusha.
DAY TWO: KILIMANJARO CLIMB -BIVOVAC NO1 (2850M)
Transfer to Umbwe Mission after breakfast. There are no Administration facilitate on this route, therefore one should obtain all permits either at Marangu headquarters or Machame gate. Walk through Kifuni Village along 4WD track, which is steep and slippery with a lot of fallen trees across; the road which takes about 3-4 hrs. From this junction the path is narrow and muddy, very steep and slippery with many fallen trees across.
You reach a campsite and small rock shelter after 5-6 hrs. Camp here for the night and have dinner (2850m).
DAY THREE: BIVOVAC NO1 - BARRANCO HUT (3950m)
After breakfast walk to easy rocks steps passing some caves at 3500m and 3780m to Barranco Hut (3950m). Dinner and overnight. at Barranco Hut.
DAY FOUR: BARRANCO - LAVA TOWER (4600m)
After breakfast continue walking up to Lava tower. Dinner and overnights at Lava Tower Hut (4600m).
DAY FIVE: LAVA TOWER - KIBO HUT (4703m)
Attempt the summit. There after descend to Kibo Hut for Dinner and overnight (4,703).
DAY SIX: KIBO - MANDARA HUT (2700m)
After breakfast descend to Mandara Hut for Dinner and overnight. (2700m).
DAY SEVEN: MANDARA - ARUSHA
After breakfast walk to Marangu gate to be transferred to Arusha for Dinner and overnight.
DAY EIGHT: ARUSHA - NAIROBI
Depart Arusha to arrive in Nairobi in the evening. Dinner and overnight in Nairobi.
