7 days Uganda Birding Tours  takes you some of the best  birding area in Uganda. The varied habitats of Uganda provides the ideal location for a variety of birds, with 350 species recorded, including 23 endemics (90% of all Albertine Rift endemics) such as the Short-tailed Warbler and Blue-headed Sunbird as well as seven IUCN red data listed species.

Day 1: Uganda Wildlife Education center - Botanical gardens Entebbe

Your Uganda Birding Tours starts by at the Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC) Entebbe a wild animals sanctuary that has over 170 species of wild birds ten species of Weavers that includes the rare Northern Masked Weaver, Golden Backed, Black Necked, Northern Brown Throated, Grosbeak, Baglafect and many others. Five species of flycatchers Crested shrike flycatcher, Lead colored, Swamp flycatcher, African paradise Red bellied and raptors such as the Gabar Goshawk, small banded snake Eagle, Shikra, African Goshawk, African Fish Eagle, African Hobby and other endemic bird species and wild animals. After a very rewarding birding experience we continue on to the Botanical Gardens for further birding. In afternoon we enjoy a siesta after lunch and in the evening visit the sewage lagoons. Dinner and overnight in Entebbe hotel

Day 2: Heritage trail - Lutembe Beach

 

After breakfast drive to the Heritage trail and search for the following species Brown Crowned Tchargra, Black Cuckoo Shrike, Brown Twin spot, Mustached Warbler, Violet backed Starlings, Yellow bill, Southern Banded Snake Eagle, Great sparrow hawk, Short Toed Snake Eagle, Red Shouldered Cuckoo Shrike. We continue on to Lutembe Beach. After lunch we take a boat in search for the papyrus Canary, the thousands of Grey Headed Gulls, White Winged black Terns, Papyrus Gonolek.

Day 3: Mabamba swamps

An early start for Mabamba swamps another Important Bird Area (IBA) soon after breakfast. On our way to Kampala with a picnic lunch this allows us to experience birding for full day without and interruption. The swamps are home to Shoebills and many other residents’ birds. Due to the area being swampy  you find that most of the birding here is done by canoeing. Apart from shoebill other species found here includes Goliath, Purple, long Toed Plover, African water Rail, Grey and Black Headed Herons, Squacco Heron, Pygmy Goose, Yellow Billed Duck, Black Crake, White Faced Whistling Duck, Swamp Moorhen, Allen's Gallinule, African Jacana and the list is inexhaustible. Sitatunga Antelope the swamp Antelope are also found here. We stop at another swamp on our way that harbours Yellow Crowned Bishop, Papyrus Gonolek, Weyns Weaver, and White winged Warbler. 
Dinner and a restful night in Kampala

Day 4: Mabira forest

Leave the hotel soon after breakfast with picnic lunch and drive for full day birding at Mabira forest a rainforest found between Lugazi and Jinja. Birding in the forest in search of the bird species found here that includes, Yellow whiskered Greenbul, White spotted Fluff tail, Toro Greenbul, Forest Robin, Buff spotted Woodpecker, Grey spotted Woodpecker, Leaf love, Red headed Blue Bill, Yellow spotted Barbet, Grey throated Barbet, Yellow Rumped Tinker bird, Red headed Malimbe, Yellow Throated Tinker bird, Blue Breasted Kingfisher, African Pygmy, Shining blue, Woodland Kingfishers, Red tailed Ant Thrush Chestnut Wattle Eye,, Chin spot Batis, Banded Wattle Eye, Yellow mantled, Brown capped, Black Billed, Weyn's Weavers, Purple headed Starling, Violet backed Starling and many more charming species Dinner and Overnight in Kampala hotel.

Day 5: Murchison Falls National Park

Soon after breakfast we depart for Murchison Falls National Park where more than 450 bird species have been recorded here. Birding stops on the way to this magnificent park with chances of spotting the Olive bellied Bronze and Copper Sun birds, Compact Weaver, Dark Chanting Goshawk, Saddle billed Stork Lunch at Masindi and then journey on to the park and start our bird expedition at the top of the wondrous falls with a drop of 45 meters. View Rock-Pranticoles, a mixed flock of swifts, Africa Pied Wagtail and assorted reptiles such as Red headed Agama. Dinner and Overnight in a hotel at the park

Day 6: Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast we leave the lodge and drive to the park expect to sight the species we had missed the previous day the include Chestnut capped Weaver, Silver bird, , Common Drongo, Spotted morning Thrush Bruce's Green Pigeon, Namaqua Dove, White Fronted Black Chat, Black billed Dove, Vinaceous Dove, Carmine Bee-Eater, Red Throated, Swallow Tailed Bee-Eater, Isabelline and Northern Wheatears, Shoebills, Saddle bill, Grey crowned Cranes at the Delta and other game like Roth child's Giraffe, Cape Buffalo, , Elephant, Silver Backed Jackals, Jackson's Hartebeest, Lions, Orbit, Kobs, and many more. Luch at the lodge and after an afternoon siesta we leave on for a boat cruise to the foot of the fall and sail on the mighty Nile home the huge Nile Crocodiles, Hippos and we view wild game coming for a drink .we are blessed with more birds viewing among them are Lesser Jacana, White necked stork, Fulvous whistling Ducks, a variety of Herons, Egyptian Plover, Spur Winged Plover, Rock Pranticoles, Water Thick-Knee among others.

Day 7: Murchison Falls National Park-Kampala

Early breakfast and we depart for Kampala on our way back we continue our birding. We take a brief stop at the Sambiya River Lodge species we easily observe includes Tawny Eagle, Martial Eagle, Grey Hornbill, Grey Kestrel, Grey Headed Kingfisher, Helmeted and Crested Guinea fowl, Senegal Coucal may be seen. At the Kanio Pabidi forest a part of the Budongo forest we encounter primates such as Chimps, Black and White Colobus, Red tailed and blue monkeys and many of Olive Baboons. Birds that include the White thighed Hornbills, Great blue and Ross's Turaccos, Black billed Turacco, African Green Pigeons, Afep Pigeons, Nahan's Francolin and Narina's Trogon, may also be seen. Proceed for lunch in Masindi and continue to Kampala for Dinner and Overnight.

Bird Watching

Day 7: Murchison Falls National Park-Kampala

Early breakfast and we depart for Kampala on our way back we continue our birding.
