Joy's Camp is names after author and early conservationist,Joy Andamson. Set at Joy Adamson’s original campsite in Shaba National Reserve is Joy’s Camp. The camp is located in this arid and semi desert with outcropping rugged rocky kopjes (small hills) and many springs that nurture the abundant wildlife.

Shaba landscape is similar to the neighbouring Samburu National Reserve with riverine forests, acacias and doum palms.

Shaba National Reserve famous for its close association with the world famous conservationists couple Joy and George Adamson and the book Born Free  while was later made into the film ” Born Free”. Shaba National Reserve too is the place where Joy Adamson released her famous leopard “Penny.

    • Samburu Intrepids

      Samburu Intrepids is a lush oasis on the banks of the great Uaso Nyiro River in Samburu Game Reserve. The camp sits on raised decks overlooking the brown river where the elephants sometimes make an appearance or the crocodiles come out to lounge by the river's banks. Samburu is close to the equator and lying on the edge of the northern hemisphere so close to the southern hemisphere. Standing at the equator and taking a celestial journey, you will be able to identify more than 60 constellations of the 88 known ones. You can spot the Southern Cross, the Scorpion and the Seven Sisters to countless others depending on the time of the year.
